Editorial Policy

People come to MedicalMarijuanaCards.us to make decisions about their health and their legal standing under their state's medical marijuana program. We owe them content that is accurate, current, clearly sourced, and free of marketing bias. This editorial policy explains how we work to meet that bar.

Our editorial principles

• Accuracy first. Every state-program detail we publish — fees, qualifying conditions, possession limits, processing times, renewal periods, agency names — is verified against the official state program website or statute before it is published.
• Plain language. We write for patients, not lawyers. We explain terms in context, link to definitions where useful, and avoid hype.
• No conflicts of interest in content. Our state guides do not recommend specific dispensaries, brands, or products. Where we link to a service we operate (such as a booking page), we disclose that clearly.
• Independence. We do not accept payment to alter program facts, rank states, or write about specific products in our state guides.

How we research

For each state page, we consult primary sources first:

• The official state medical marijuana program website (the agency that issues cards).
• State statutes and administrative rules, accessed through the state legislature or secretary of state portal.
• Forms, fee schedules, and FAQs published directly by the state agency.
• Where helpful, we reference reporting from established health-policy publications and peer-reviewed clinical sources.

How we review and update

• Every state page is reviewed at least once per year, and immediately when we are notified of a program change.
• Material program changes (new conditions added, fees changed, processing-time updates, agency renames) are reflected in the page within 14 days of confirmation.
• Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.

Health and legal information

Corrections

If you find an error on the site, please tell us. Email contact@medicalmarijuanacards.us with subject line "State Page Correction" and include the URL, the specific issue, and a source if you have one. We acknowledge correction requests within 2 business days and update the page promptly when verified. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the page along with the date.

Author and reviewer credentials

Our content is produced by writers with backgrounds in health policy and digital health journalism, and reviewed for clinical accuracy by licensed clinicians who serve patients through telehealth in U.S. medical marijuana programs. Where individual authorship is meaningful (for example, blog posts on clinical topics), the author is identified on the article.

Use of generative AI

We use AI tools to assist with drafting, formatting, and surface research. AI output is never published without human review against primary sources. We do not use AI to generate clinical recommendations or to fabricate state program facts.

Advertising and sponsored content

State guides on this site are not sponsored. If we ever publish an article that is paid for by a third party, it will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" or "Paid Partnership" at the top of the page, and the page will not be presented as editorial content.
